Description

Vitamin E 134mg

Solgar Vitamin E 134mg is a fat-soluble vitamin with several forms, but alpha-tocopherol is the only one use by the human body. Its main role is to act as an antioxidant, scavenging loose electrons—so-called “free radicals”—that can damage cells. It also enhances immune function and prevents clots from forming in heart arteries.

Vitamin E Foods

Best source of Vitamin E foods are  plant-based oils, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables.

  • Wheat germ oil, Sunflower, safflower, and soybean oil, Almonds, Peanuts, peanut butter
  • Beet greens, collard greens, spinach, Pumpkin,  Red bell pepper,  Asparagus, Mango, Avocado.

 Benefits

  • Solgar Vitamin E 134mg benefits looked like an easy way to prevent cardiovascular disease. Large observational studies have show a benefit from E supplements, whereas control clinical trials have produce mix results.
  • Investigators had hope that the Selenium and  E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT) would give more definitive answers on  E and prostate cancer. But investigators halted the study halfway through in 2008 when early analyses showed that  E offered no cancer or prostate cancer prevention benefit.  Though the trial ended, researchers continued to follow the men who had participated. In 2011, they reported a 17% higher risk of prostate cancer among men assigned to take  E; there was no significant increased risk of prostate cancer among men who took Solgar vitamin E 134mg and selenium.
  • A six-year trial found that  E, in combination with C, beta carotene, and zinc, offered some protection against the development of advanced age-related macular degeneration (AMD), but not cataracts, in people who were at high risk of the disease. On its own, however,  E does not seem to offer much benefit against either AMD or cataracts.
